18 Inches
"From your head to you’re heart.... 18 inches."
I know, I know.... it’s been so long since I’ve gotten to post something. Some of my friends were making comments about how I should post something again. I know this is the usual excuse.... but things have really gotten crazy busy around here lately and I’ve been a bit distracted. BUT... I have had this one written for quite awhile now... just haven’t had a chance to edit it and post it......
so, enough of this rambling and on to the real stuff here......
Something that God has been dealing with me about in my life for the past 2 or 3 years, is taking what I know and putting it to action. It’s no good having all the information but not doing anything about it. Being here at Bible College, I have been gaining a lot of new information. It’s so exciting to hear all these different perspectives on stories and situations I’ve never heard before, but the real test is when I come home from College. Will I just fall right back into my daily routine? Or will I change according to the things God has shown me? I would be putting God’s words to waste if I just ignore them. My time here at Bible College, all the studying I’ve done, everything I’ve learned.... ALL for nothing if I don’t go out and use it.
So what I want to ask you is, what are you doing with the things the Lord has shown you? Has it made an impact on your life? No one can teach you how to do it, they can just give you the information. It’s about head knowledge verses taking it to heart.... 18 inches.
I think it’s kind of like playing music; you can learn the right notes to play at the right time, but it’s different when you hear a real passionate piano player where they put so much emotion into it. That’s something you can’t teach. You can’t teach someone how to just feel the music and play with passion, just like one cannot teach you how to have a personal and intimate relationship with God. I can give you the piano and the music to read, and tell you how to use them.... I can give you all the instructions you need, but it’s up to you to use them willingly and with passion not just because you know how.
My point is, I’m excited you are reading this right now, but, what are you going to do about it? Are you just going to close this page and think “Oh, that was a nice little blog.” Or are you going to start putting these things to action? If not, then you might as well just stop reading this now, because it doesn’t matter what else I’m going to say.
I share this with you from my own personal convictions....not to condemn you. It’s something I struggle with as well. It’s so easy to get caught up with all the distractions of this world and not make the effort to change our life style because, common... everyone else is doing it this way! Why should WE be the ones to change?
Because we are called to be set apart. And God wants all of you to live for Him... not because it’s the “right thing to do” or because you know how to say and do all the “Christian” things..... but because you sincerely want to. Because you love Him and wish to have a deeper relationship with Him. He doesn’t like lukewarmness nor will He accept it. The Bible talks about this in Revelation 3:16.... “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” This kind of lifestyle is disgusting to Him! This isn’t something to take lightly.
Once again, I will end with a challenge.... take something you know and put it to action. Whether it be getting up earlier to spend time with Him, or helping out someone in need.
Don't let the knowledge God has blessed you with go to waste.........
amen amen amen! so glad you're preaching about this. i need to respond with action to some things the Lord is telling me...and i pray you will have the strength to act on what God is showing you too :)
